Energie AG : Development of a Digitalization Strategy with a Focus on Data and AI Use Cases

The challenges :

In the dynamic energy market, following a group-wide strategy project, Energie AG identified a clear need for an extensive realignment of its digitalization efforts. To remain competitive in the long run, the company aims to strengthen all business areas through digital transformation and position the entire group to operate more efficiently and with greater customer focus. In particular, Data and AI are considered central to this transformation. Existing digital initiatives across business units now need to be consolidated, strategically further developed, and integrated into a group‑wide digitalization strategy.

Our approach :

The project team began with an initial assessment: benchmarking the digital maturity of the various business units and conducting a gap analysis of the existing system landscape. This provided a solid foundation for the digital transformation.
Building on this, target pictures were developed and anchored together with the business units in a clear digitalization vision and strategy. The definition of relevant KPIs and the derivation of a steering logic for executing the digital transformation created a structured basis for targeted implementation. In parallel, the team identified relevant AI use cases and assessed their potential. These insights resulted in a group‑wide digitalization roadmap that formulates concrete measures, sets clear priorities, and enables structured execution.

The solution :

Energie AG first gains complete clarity on its current state: a systematic analysis of the digital maturity of all business units makes strengths, weaknesses, and action areas transparent. Building on this, the identification of relevant AI applications along key business processes creates a solid understanding of opportunities and potentials for efficiency, automation, and new value creation.
A precisely developed digitalization strategy, complemented by a roadmap with clear priorities and actionable measures, provides orientation and confidence for the next steps.
By leveraging proven best practices and industry‑specific expertise, the practical implementation is accelerated and placed on a realistic and impact‑oriented foundation. This enables Energie AG to significantly accelerate its digital transformation and continuously develop toward becoming a fully digital utility company.

Together with Horváth, we strategically consolidated our digitalization initiatives, launched targeted new initiatives, and developed concrete ambitions for all areas – a major and important step on our path to becoming a fully digital utility company.
