Most companies are a long way from successfully decarbonizing their own operations; after all, their value creation activities present a major challenge in terms of orientation on net zero: We have found for example that production and distribution networks have often developed over time, and do not offer efficiency in terms of emissions, costs, or delivery times. This highlights the importance of having a clear strategy with achievable goals and COO-level commitment to decarbonization. Emissions, costs, quality, and time: As a first step, we will analyze your company's value creation network from a decarbonization perspective, and optimize it holistically. Only then will we look at your sites and value creation processes. If we realign your entire network in the long term, this includes for example opening and closing or relocating value-creation activities and sites. Our short and medium-term measures include product-to-plant allocation and loading and transport optimization – always with the goal that you will be able to strategically reduce your emissions.
Each site and each plant has different decarbonization challenges, depending in particular on the level of maturity. Our experts first analyze the specific carbon footprint of your sites and the products manufactured in the plant. This is based on global calculation standards: The GHG Protocol or ISO 14064 for the company carbon footprint and/or product carbon footprint. This enables us to derive recommended actions for reducing emissions on a targeted basis. We also develop measures for different areas and develop a decarbonization roadmap aligned with your COO department's overarching goals.
If we focus on companies' Scope 1 and 2 emissions, the level where actions are taken is of course crucial. Based on a financial and potentials assessment, we can develop a plannable roadmap.
