The challenges :
The client did not have a modern, integrated BI ecosystem. As requirements grew and complexity increased, the existing planning solution in SAP BPC – based on a bottom‑up approach – reached its limits. Significant weaknesses became apparent, especially in terms of performance, flexibility, and future viability. The objective was therefore to implement a holistic controlling system in SAP Analytics Cloud and Datasphere.
Our approach :
From vision to implementation, a holistic controlling system was designed together with the relevant stakeholders – based on a previously defined target picture for controlling on management‑level – and implemented end‑to‑end using an agile approach.
Shortly after the start of the project, the first dashboards were ready for use in reporting. The planning approach was transformed from bottom‑up to top‑down.
Horváth delivered the project fully from start to finish, addressing not only reporting and planning topics but also technical challenges in SAP S/4HANA, such as the use of legacy CO-structures. In addition, state‑of‑the‑art technical standards were applied: this project ranks among the world’s first implementations of SAP Seamless Planning.
The solution :
Together with the client, the Horváth team developed an integrated and harmonized reporting system that enables rapid provision of decision‑relevant information. By consolidating data sources and standardizing reporting processes, transparency was increased and the foundation for well‑informed decisions was established.
A driver‑based top‑down planning approach was introduced to ensure consistent alignment between planning and reporting. This Seamless Planning concept provides a unified data foundation and allows flexible adaptation to changing requirements.
The client’s internal team received targeted training in the applied SAP technologies, ensuring they can use, maintain, and further develop the solution independently.
