Tips for your direct entry

Most of your general questions about applying for a job with us can most likely be answered here on our careers page. If you have specific questions about one or more of our current positions, get in touch with your personal contact person in the respective advertisement. You are welcome to contact us either on the telephone number given there or alternatively by e-mail. For data protection reasons, we ask that you only submit your application online via the link in the advertisement.

In order to be able to carry out a detailed assessment, we request the following documents:

• Cover letter
• Curriculum vitae
• Relevant certificates (such as diplomas and references)

Applications may be submitted in German and English.

New employees usually start at the beginning of the month. However, individual arrangements are also possible. In general, we recommend that you apply about three months before your desired start date.

As a rule, all our current positions can be found on our job portal. However, if you still can't find the job you're looking for, you are welcome to send us an unsolicited application. We will need your complete application documents (cover letter, CV, references), stating your starting date, location and your preferred field of activity. 
If you are interested in more than one job, a single online application will suffice. This is because we always compare each incoming application with the job requirements in other areas. You are welcome to highlight your job preference explicitly in your cover letter.

Our consulting teams work from various locations and therefore we always list all possible office locations in our advertisements. Please state your preferences here. The project location may of course differ from this location.

You’ve made the first step. You will receive a confirmation of receipt from us and can then lean back and relax. We will get back to you with feedback as soon as possible.

Now that your documents have intrigued us, we want to get to know you personally - and give you the opportunity to get to know us too! Ultimately, both sides must decide that they are right for each other. Our selection process usually consists of two stages.  We get to know each other personally and professionally in the first interview. If this meeting is positive for both sides, a second interview takes place where you will get to know more colleagues. You will also work on a case study.

The aim of the interviews should be to enable both sides to make a decision. The best way to prepare for this is to engage intensively with the position’s requirements as well as with your goals and wishes. What should your new tasks look like and what expectations do you have of us as employers? Why do you want a new orientation? We also recommend that you prepare well for the case study.

Because our colleagues are often on the road, we try to find the most convenient location for the meeting from an ecological and economic point of view. This also gives you the opportunity to get to know another location and other Horváth employees.

Of course, we will cover travel expenses for interviews. We extend invitations to get to know each other by telephone during which we can also clarify possible questions about travel expenses directly in person.

Our motto is: "Dress the way your client does". We therefore recommend a business look for the interview. You are welcome to leave out the tie, as we have already done away with it at our offices. 
We stick to a casual business look at the office and the respective dress code of our clients on the projects.

We will contact you by phone after each interview. We review the interview together and are eager to hear your opinion. We appreciate your time and effort and will give you detailed feedback on how we felt about the meeting. We can then discuss the next steps with each other.

We won't tell you anything you don't know already. In consulting, the location varies according to the project and client and can differ from the office location. As a rule, we work according to the 2-2-1 principle. At least two days on site with the client, up to two days working remotely or at home and one day at the office location. This is a rule of thumb and can vary according to project requirements and personal situation.
Our teams in the Corporate Functions are always assigned to a fixed location.

There is no general answer. Depending on the area and project, it can be a few weeks to a year or longer. The size of our teams also varies. We use our broad experience, combining industry and functional expertise, to provide our clients with the best possible team. This also provides our employees new insights and experience time and time again.

We are fully aware that working in a consultancy is very time-consuming and demanding. It is therefore all the more important to us to create a successful balance between work and leisure.
