HanseYachts sets sail anew - Inventory optimization at a global player for yachts

The challenges

HanseYachts AG's inventory had grown significantly for a variety of reasons, resulting in a substantial capital commitment. A high number of work in progress and challenges in the supply chain put additional pressure on the company. As a result, the producer and seller of sail and power boats was looking for a partner with whom it could address these challenges.

Our approach

First, Horváth's experts assessed the current and planned inventory levels and identified levers to improve inventories. These resulted in specific measures for inventory reduction. Throughout the entire project, Horváth provided active support not only for the identification of levers but also for the activation of those. This guaranteed a fast and efficient implementation.

The solution

By taking short-, medium- and long-term measures to improve inventory levels and the planning process, HanseYachts was able to address the issue of inventory very comprehensively.

A total inventory reduction potential of 17 to 30 percent was identified. The short- to medium-term focus was on reducing non- and slow-movers. Horváth's support created transparency for the first time and raised awareness of holistic cross-functional inventory management. In the future, HanseYachts will be able to deal with fluctuations in the supply chain in a more resilient manner and, thanks to the established program, will have increased transparency to be able to initiate measures at an early stage.
