What Integrated Business Planning means for manufacturing
As pointed out in our introductory article on integrated business planning (IBP), IBP takes the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process one step further by integrating financial planning with demand and operations planning . It involves all relevant organizational functions and generally takes a much broader approach with regard to optimization issues. This article covers the main advantages of an integrated planning approach for manufacturing, and highlights some of the inputs required from manufacturing to perform IPB. This is intended to foster the development and implementation of new, more insightful planning approaches in manufacturing companies and help decision makers to steer through uncertain times.
