AUTOMOTIVE
"Nothing is as it once was – from Auto-mobility to integrated mobility"
All the signs in the automotive industry are pointing to fundamental change. Currently the primary carrier of individual mobility, the car, will have to find a new place in the integrated mobility world of the future. Of course, there will still be motorized vehicles but the industry's laws of nature will change. Be it far-reaching technological changes (CO2 discussion, future drive technologies, e-mobility...), changing attitudes and behavior of consumers (functionality vs. image, environmental protection...), or the shifting balance of power within the industry (new competitors entering the market from other sectors, the growing autonomy of individual, strategic suppliers...) – all the major trends will result in the ongoing integration of the mobility carriers and to the reorganization and realignment of the market for mobility.
Today, every company in the automotive sector must take a critical look at its own role in this new market for mobility. New services will be created, new alliances will be forged and new infrastructures will be set up – all of which will require new service providers, new manufacturers and new suppliers. The future for Auto-mobility as an integral element in the mobility market is a promising one.
Nevertheless, the future is not completely rosy, not by a long shot: in order to be able to succeed in this radically changing market, players must be able to think outside the box and look beyond the known boundaries of the automotive industry. For this, they will need both the ability to develop, enhance and manage new and existing business models and the creative potential - together with the necessary resources – to act entrepreneurially. Additionally, in the short term, the underlying consideration for every corporate decision has to be to secure adequate financial resources.
For companies to be able to meet future challenges they must maintain the balance between long-term strategic measures and short-term efficiency programms. This is where the holistic Performance Management Approach of Horváth & Partners (Performance Architects) comes into the picture. We have recognized that, especially for the automotive industry and the challenges facing it, only a convincing and all-encompassing approach can provide what is needed to survive the battle for individual mobility.
At the same time, some of the challenges ahead for automotive manufacturers, suppliers and the retailers are the same for all, while some of the opportunities and risks are very different indeed. Our three competence teams reflect the differing needs of these three player groups and their situations.
